The hottest new discovery among France’s promising young actresses. Hailed by the New York Times as the It Girl of New French Cinema, she burst onto the scene with four major releases in France in 2000: her feature film debut in Sade (directed by Benoît Jacquot, and starring Daniel Auteuil) – for which she received a César nomination for Most Promising Young Actress; Bye Bye Babylon (directed by Raphaël Frydman); Roberto Succo (directed by Cédric Kahn); and GIRLS CAN’T SWIM . Previously, she appeared in a number of short films, including La Puce (made when she was just 14 years old), which won the Jury Prize at Cannes for short films and also was an official selection in the 1997 New York Film Festival. Le Besco’s upcoming films include The Repentant (starring Isabelle Adjani, with Maria Schneider) and A Moment of Happiness (directed by Antoine Santana). She is the daughter of actress Catherine Belkhodja (Chris Marker’s Level Five) and sister of actress Maïwenn Le Besco (Diva Plavalaguna in Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element). Credit: filmbug.com
